AMBROSE UPDATE - March 2021!
Back in 2012 when Ambrose (fka Geeves) became a Court Case Dog, Safe Humane volunteers noted that he was a gentleman who deserved the finer things in life. Well, we are happy to report he is definitely still enjoying the finer things with his adoptive mom, Brooke.
Ambrose found himself at CACC in July 2012 when he (along with CCD Rockette) was found abandoned on the roof of a building with no food or water. Ambrose was fostered and adopted through Safe Humane’s rescue partner Friends of Chicago Animal Care and Control.
Nowadays “Amby’s” favorite activity is EATING. His mom, who works for the amazing animal welfare organization Mercy for Animals, takes him out for breakfast tacos fairly regularly. Treats from pet bakeries are enjoyed often. Amby also likes Subway and Burger King drive-thrus. But his favorite part of the day seems to be when his mom finishes work and gets into bed to watch TV. She pours a glass of wine, and he nudges her to lift the blanket so he can wriggle under. He lies under there against her legs while she sips and relaxes. Amby also loves to cuddle with his grandpa (see pics!) when Brooke is out of town.
Up until a couple of years ago (now Amby's a little old for it), Brooke’s greatest joy was taking Amby to the lakeside park early in the morning and running across the beach with him. Once a month, she'd devote a whole morning to taking him there, running and tossing a ball into the lake for him to swim out and fetch (on a long leash). Now that their walks have to be a little shorter and gentler, Brooke’s greatest joy is taking Amby out for breakfast. They sit at a picnic table, eating tacos and churros and hanging out while Brooke finishes her coffee.
When asked what she loves most about Amby, Brooke answers, “How amazingly affectionate and loving he is. He loves to be close. He sleeps with me under the blankets at night, and in the morning when he gets up, he expects to be hugged for a while. He'd stand there all day with his head on my shoulder while I hugged him if he could.”
Love, cuddles and breakfast tacos! Yes, all the finer things in life for our buddy Ambrose. Thank you, Brooke!
